John Crandell, III

John is a saavy, careful yet serious competitor, able to go from small rides up through the most demanding international competition with focus, humor, and grace.   He does his own training and farriery.  He uses his training grounds in western Virginia effectively to prepare his horses for the most demanding terrains and conditions they are ever likely to see.

  • 2011:  First and Best Conditioned in FITS 100 on Heraldic in just under 8 hours.   First and BC at OCTRA 75 on Heraldic.
  • 2010:  First in Tevis on Heraldic
  • 2010:  First in Old Dominion 100 on Heraldic
  • 2010:  Top 10 Goethe 75 on LR Bold Greyson
  • 2008:  Selected for USA team for Malaysia on HH Saba Shams
  • 2008:  Third at Greenway Gallivant FEI 100 on HH Saba Shams
  • 2007:  Chronicle of the Horse "Horseman of the Year"
  • 2007:  Fifth place at Sultan's Cup FEI 100 pre-ride, Malaysia, on Heraldic
  • 2007:  Winner of AERC Championship 100 on the Owynee course in Oreana, ID on Heraldic.
  • 2007:  Second and Hagin Cup winner at Tevis (Western States Trail Foundation 100) on HH Saba Shams
  • 2007:  First and BC at Ft Howes 100, AHA National Championship on Heraldic
  • 2007:  Third at Fun In The Sun (FITS) FEI 100 on HH Saba Shams
  • 2006:  Winner of the endurance "Triple Crown": Old Dominion 100, Tevis, and AERC Championship 100 on Heraldic, with BC at AERC Championship, and Hagin Cup at Tevis.
  • Other Pre-2007 -- multiple wins, completions, BCs in rides competed in to each horse's capabilities.
